Avast, ye!
It's time for a pirate coloring page! Just in time for Talk Like a Pirate Day! Celebrate talking like a pirate with these cute (yes, pirates can be cute, who knew?) pirate mice on the high seas from children's book illustrator and author Melanie Hope Greenberg.
Talk Like a Pirate Day occurs every September, a much needed day of silliness at the end of summer. Strap on an eye patch, grab a plastic sword, put on a hat and start talking like a scurvy dog. But most importantly, ignore the fact that actual pirates were people you would never want to meet in real life.
PLAY IDEA: Aren't these pirate mice cute? For further pretend play possibilities cut out the individual ships (no need to cut on the exact outlines, a rounded shape will do) and paste to a wooden craft stick or tape to the end of a pencil.
Now that you have your pirate ship puppets, engage in an imaginary pirate battle and don't forget to make your annoying brother walk the plank!

What goes with pirates? Why the other creatures that roam the seas! That would be mermaids, of course. Double your fun by pairing this pirate coloring page with some mermaid coloring pages like the following:
