Melanie originally created this artwork in 2002 for the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that promotes social justice and civil rights in the United States. SPLC discovered Melanie's work through her work with the Children's Defense Fun and AFL-CIO, and published greeting cards and labels using Melanie's artwork.

Melanie Hope Greenberg is an award winning author and illustrator of more than 15 children’s books.
