I'm intending to buy some birding equipment for a friend's young grandson and this will be a perfect addition. However I would still use naturally available materials; no lint, yarn, hair, etc. That information was on a birding site I visited

In reply to Susan Call Hutchison (ReadAloudReadAlong.com). Do not use dryer lint! This should be corrected and not continue to be trusted info for the well-being of Birds. It is harmful! It gets soggy w any moisture and contains chemicals from your washing and drying products!

Great idea. Will try it. And as stated in a comment above, I read that dryer lint is not recommended for this purpose because it may contain some left over chemicals that may be harmful to the birds.

I was told that dryer lint is NOT good nesting material for birds because it retains moisture when it rains, etc.
