When my kiddo was lacking inspiration for creating cards, we actually visited the Hallmark store to get ideas and talk about the things we did or did not like on a card. A joke? A cute animal? It was "window-shopping" for inspiration!

You offers some great ideas here! My Jr. (a teen now!) used to love to make cards, and still enjoys using fountain pens and special markers. Have y'all been to Kinokuniya, the Japanese bookstore near Bryant Park? The basement level is chock FULL of great writing supplies--and paper for origami, if your kiddos are interested.

Smarty doesn't resist writing cards as much, but letters require bribing (extra computer time). I read some tips and tried to set up a letter writing station with envelopes, paper, etc., It worked... for the first 2 letters and now we are back to bribing.
