I read The Nutcracker last year to my son (aged 6) and, although he didnt quite understand everything, he enjoyed it enough to take the nutcracker ornaments off the tree and make believe a “battle” with them. We read the version illustrated by Maurice Sendak. It’s beautiful! Thank you for this lovely post!
