My guy loves to read, but graphic novels are the thing that have captured his attention. I got him Rutabaga and he loved it so much he asked for the next one and asked the librarian at his school to get it for the library! I also got him el Deafo...I wasn't sure if he'd read a book about a girl. He was hesitant at first and then just ate it up. I told him that it was recommended by the same person who recommended Rutabaga so I think that helped him be more willing to give it a try. I will be working my way through this list!

I am an elementary school teacher-librarian and I wholeheartedly agree with you about the value of graphic novels. I find it hard to read them as well, but I have noticed that increasing my graphic novel collection has turned many reluctant readers into students who camp out at my library door each morning.

She devoures them. They don't make enough of them in my opinion, as she's read all of these. I also love them. We had so much fun reading Bird & Squirrel together. It's such good silly fun. I say let them read whatever they want!

My tween son can thoroughly recommend pretty much anything from the Phoenix Comics here in the UK (his favourite being “Bunny VS Monkey” stories).

Thanks for the recommendation.
