We just discovered Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea in the graphic novel section of the library. Very funny and smartly written. Perfect for young readers- I think there's a second on the series or will be soon.

Another series my first grader likes is The Misadventures of Salem Hyde. They are easy readers (Lexile of 250-300) and very funny.
