"The Dot" and "Ish" are two of our favorites. One that we found at the library when my daughter was tiny, that has stuck with me is "Emma's Rug" by Allen Say. It is about a little girl who draws (or is it paints? hmm...) beautiful art from shapes she sees in a rug. Her parents (not knowing of where her artwork begins) get a new rug... she goes through a downward spiral until she realizes she sees the shapes everywhere. It inspired both of us when we read it.
